Hello readers, I am Margaret, a lover of life. Also a lover of one man, six kids, fifteen grandchildren and one four year old great-grandson.
After fort-six years of marriage and almost that long childrearing I think I deserve to do a few things just for me. So here I am doing something I never considered doing before, blogging!!!
I will start my blog by giving you the bones of my life. Leaving school at thirteen was not an unusual thing in those days for the people I knew. And although my Da worked in Guinness’s brewery and badly wanted me to do a secretarial course to join the white collar workers there, it was not my thing. I was a strong-willed little bitch even then, and all I wanted to do was machining in a clothes factory. After a few false starts, I ended up in Donald Davis fashions, which was situated in a converted loft over the stables in Charleville house Enniskerry. I was followed into the trade by my five sisters, and even my brother worked there for a while as a cutter. Donald Davis was one of the first of the Irish fashion labels to put Ireland on the map.
After my marriage the fashion concious young woman turned into a breeding machine for a good few years, so we’ll skip those years if you don’t mind LOL As the children progressed through school, I found myself getting interested in education for me. I had heard of a VEC scheme for adult education, so I thought I’d give it a try. I suppose my age was against me,I was fifty-six by the time I got a place.
From the first day, I was hooked, six subjects, english, history geaography, maths, art and business in a two year course for the leaving cert. It was heaven to me, meeting people ( mostly younger ) and studying, was more like a club than the schooldays I barely remembered. The teacher of English and history, is the person I acknowledge as the reason for my love of writing. To cut a long story short, I passed the leaving, all subjects, with three honours. My blogs will, for the most part be essays I wrote there or since.
As my seventieth birthday rapidly approaches, I have looked back on my life, the bad bits, as well as the good. I am not dissatisfied with any of it, and I am proud of the family my husnd and I reared, they are a credit to us. I am the eldest of six girls and four boys, and they are also my greatest friends. I can’t believe anyone will really be interested in my rambles so I will end now, thank you for reading this.Margaretxx
Oh Margaret! Brilliant. How absolutely fascinating…and would you mind if I ask one of our reporters in Bray to interview about your life experience. I think that is just temendous. Love this. Thank you so much for sharing. More blogs. more. Please. 🙂 Anne Marie xx

That’s a lovely first blog post. Learning never stops, thanks for demonstrating that.
Welcome Margaret to the world of blogging. It takes time to get the hang of it I am still trying to find things out. I love your first blog and fair play to you. Keep up the blogging I will keep reading.
